From May 28 through 31, 2009, the Canton Ticino and the Province of Como will host the 1st Edition of the Grand Prix Gourmet Food & Wine Festival.
The Festival's inauguration gala dinner with the presentation of the chefs will take place on Thursday, May 28 at Cristallo Restaurant in Lugano.
In the days following the inauguration, the Lebanese chef, Maroun Chedid will arrive in Italy for the first time and will create a menu for a gala dinner
at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni.
Maroun Chedid, executive chef for the La Posta di Beirut restaurant, was classified among the top 7 chefs in the world in 2005 in the "Bocuse d'Or" competition in the preparation of fish and is one of the emerging chefs in Lebanese cuisine.
The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni will also host tastings of the biotic wines of the Cantina Sacrafamilia (Pavia) They will be presented along with a lunch menu created for the occasion by Ettore Bocchia.
